X-Men: First Class- Quick Review

X-Men First Class is the latest of X-men films, which is based on the very first of the X-Men characters on their struggle to finding their place in human society. What makes First Class distinct from other X-Men installments is a storyline that depicts the very first of the 'mutants', i.e. the people who adapted to the nuclear radiations and developed special abilities (as the explanation given by the X-Men franchise), and their dilemmas regarding which side to choose from the two sides, one favoring of being helpful to humans (headed by Professor X) and the other, aiming wholly to protect themselves among humans (headed by Magneto).

X-Men First Class is set in the 60s. The film opens at Poland in 1961, with a boy able to bend a metal gate by concentrating on it when army-men separate him from his mother at the other side of the gate. A scientist, Dr. Shaw, notices the boy and kills his mother while forcing him to demonstrate his abilities. The boy grows up to be Magneto, one of the main characters of the film, and he is after former Nazis (being the cause of his separation with his mother according to him) and on his fight to seek revenge from Dr. Shaw. Magneto teams up with Professor X, the lead character of the film and who has supreme telepathic abilities (which he also uses to locate all the mutants in the world), in order to stop Shaw, another mutant character, from causing World War III. One of the popular characters of the X-Men movies, Wolverine, is also featured in X-Men First Class in the scene where Professor X gathers locations all the mutants around the world using a brainwave amplification device. Professor X gathers mutants and helps them train their abilities against Shaw and his team of the three mutants Azazel, Riptide and Emma Frost and others.

X-Men First Class has received positive reviews during its first week. It was released on 1st June, 2011 in the UK and on the 3rd June in the US and as on 4th June, it scored 87% on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.2/10 on IMDB.
